The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stated that the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be held on January 31, 2021.
The exams were earlier scheduled to be held in July but were postponed due to administrative reasons.
Meanwhile, CBSE has increased the number of cities where the examinations will be held. The exams will now be held in 135 cities, whereas previously the exams were scheduled to be held in 135 cities.
Every effort will be made to accommodate candidates in the cities opted by them but if the situation arises, they can be allotted any city other than the four cities opted by them," CBSE said.
Candidates have also been allowed to change the option of the city from which they want to appear for the exam. The candidates have between November 7-16 to change their exam city.
The new exam cities include Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Begusarai, Gopalganj, Purnia, Rohtas, Saharsa, Saran, Bhilai/ Durg, Bilaspur, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Ludhiana, Ambedkar Nagar, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Deoria, Gonda, Mainpuri, Pratapgarh, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur and Udham Singh Nagar.

Importance of CTET
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) has been held as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher. The exam is aimed to bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process while inducing teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further improve their performance standards.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi.
