Bhanwar Lal, a constable of the paramilitary force's 67 Battalion, shot himself dead with his INSAS rifle inside the CRPF camp at Lawjynriew area here, the unit commandant Imran Mallick, said.

Lal was taken to a nearby medical facility, where doctors pronounced him dead.

"Prima facie indicates that the constable committed suicide by shooting himself in his chin," he said.

"We don't know what could be the reason that led him to take such an extreme step, but we suspected that it could be a family problem," Mallick said.
