The suspension is seen as a compromise after Vishwas had threatened to quit the party.

The AAP leader had on Tuesday insisted a stern action be taken against Okhla MLA Amantullah Khan, who had accused him of being a RSS-BJP agent and plotting a coup in the party.

Speaking to media, AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, "He (Vishwas) will be Rajasthan's party in-charge as the state goes to polls next year. Amanatullah khan has been suspended from the party and a committee has been formed to look into the allegations levelled by him."

The committee will be headed by Party secretary Pankaj Gupta.

Vishwas had accused Khan of being a "mask" and acting at the behest of a "coterie" surrounding Kejriwal.

On Sunday, Khan resigned from the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) over a spat with Vishwas, plunged the poll-battered party into turmoil, almost reminiscent of the 2015 bitter public spat involving then AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan.

After the emotional outburst, Vishwas had threatened to quit the party.

Following which, the chief minister and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had visited Vishwas' Ghaziabad residence late on Wednesday night to pacify him.
