Criminal wanted in dacoity cases killed in encounter in Vijaywada
Adapa Venkanna, 45, and his accompalice were spotted by a police team on patrol, in view of chief minister K Rosaiah's visit to Vijaywada today, at Pedapulipaka village in the early hours, police said.
An alleged criminal, wanted in several cases of dacoity, was killed in an encounter with police in the city outskirts today.Adapa Venkanna, 45, and his accompalice were spotted by a police team on patrol, in view of chief minister K Rosaiah's visit to Vijaywada today, at Pedapulipaka village in the early hours, police said.The duo opened fire at the police team, prompting them to retaliate, they said adding Venkanna was killed but his accomplice managed to flee.Police also seized a revolver, two cell phones and some liquor bottles from the encounter site.Venkanna's wife Mahalakshmi however claimed that the encounter was fake.
