Crime branch sleuths claimed to have caught a gang of burglars involved in 18 different burglary incidents. The thieves reportedly hail from Dungarpur in Rajasthan and have been involved in burglaries in Ahmedabad's posh localities, mainly Satellite and Vastrapur.
The police said that they have caught Sukhlal Patel, 32, Kanti 'Dewman', 23, Amarsingh 'Bapu Darbar', 22, and Ramu 'Raju', 24. The four live at different places in the city but are originally from Dungarpur district in Rajasthan.
According to the police, the four were caught while planning to burgle a house at Mahalaxmi crossroads in Paldi on Saturday night. They were reportedly caught with tools used for house break-ins.
Crime branch officials said that the group used to extract information from domestic help employed in different localities, and committed the crimes. Officials also gave a list of 18 incidents involving these people. Shyamal Row Houses in Satellite and Saman Complex in Vastrapur were among the spots the group had committed burglaries at.
