The Rajasthan unit of CPI-M today hit out at the Congress-led state government for "failing" to provide adequate drinking and irrigation water and power to farmers since last one month even as the state is reeling under intense heat wave conditions.

"Kisan ke khet mein pani nahin, bijli nahin aur logon ke liye pine ka pani nahin in 100 dino mein is nai Congress sarkar mein (no drinking and irrigation water, no electricity in over 100 days of Congress regime in the state)," CPI-M leader Amraram told a press conference here.

Crops along the Indira Gandhi Canal Project in Bikaner, Srigangangar and Hanumangarh districts are drying out as the water supply from Punjab's side was badly affected since fortnight, he said.

Instead of negotiating with the Punjab government to release sufficient irrigation supply, the Congress was still in jubilation mood after assembly and Lok Sabha polls victory, Amraram said.

Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, the state government has given free hand to bureaucracy to make any investment of equipments and vehicles, but the farmers were deprived of the facilities, he said.

The Congress also failed to give free lands to landless labourers as it promised in its manifesto, the CPI(M) leader said.
