CPI(M) complains of intimidation of their candidates in Burdwan municipality polls

CPI(M) today complained of intimidation, saying that their candidates were barred from voting by Trinamool Congress leaders during polls at Burdwan municipality.

CPI(M) District Committee Secretary Amal Halder said that Trinamool Congress leaders and supporters were barring their agents from sitting at the polling booths and preventing their candidates from voting during the polls at the civic body.

"Trinamool Congress goons have unleashed a reign of terror across the town and the voters are not also able to exercise their franchise freely," he said.

There are 35 seats in Burdwan Municipality and Left Front led by CPI-M had bagged 34 seats in the last polls.

Voting is going on peacefully in Guskara municipality of the district where Trinamool Congress had wrested power from Left Front during last municipality polls five years ago.
