"His condition is much better," Dr S Pakhmode, in whose private nursing home Bardhan has been undergoing treatment, told PTI tonight. He said Bardhan was even taken to a public felicitation programme under the supervision of a team of doctors and brought back. "He is resting," Dr Pakhmode added.

Bardhan, 90, the veteran trade union leader and former Secretary General of Communist Party of India, was here to participate in the party's national executive when he suddenly took ill on Friday with high blood pressure and was admitted to a private nursing home. Bardhan's daughter Dr Alka Barua is with him.
