COVID-19: Night curfew imposed in several districts of Chhattisgarh, here's what's allowed, what's not

In view of rising cases of coronavirus in Chhattisgarh, the administration has imposed a night curfew in several districts, including Raipur. 

During the curfew, shops will not be allowed to remain open after 9 pm.

Officials of the Public Relations Department of Raipur said that Collector S Bharatidasan has issued an order to keep all the urban bodies of the district, including the municipal establishments located within the border area of ​​Raipur and Birgaon, open within the stipulated time for prevention of COVID-19. According to the order, all types of permanent and temporary shops can operate from 6 am to 9 pm and restaurants, hotels and dhabas with indoor dining from 8 am to 10 pm and take-away and home delivery restaurants. Hotels and Dhabas will be able to provide delivery facilities till 11.30 pm.

Petrol pumps and medical stores will remain open

Officials said that petrol pumps and drug stores have been kept away from the purview of this order. It states that it will be mandatory for all traders, employees and customers to wear masks and all businessmen will be required to keep masks for sale in their shop or office. It will also be mandatory to keep sanitizer in the shop and institute. Officials informed that in the order it has been said that if any of these conditions are violated by a business owner, then his shop or office will be sealed for 15 days with immediate effect.

In other districts like Durg, Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi, Sukma, Raigad, Korba, Mungeli and other districts of the state, orders have been issued to fix the timings for opening and closing of shops. The respective district administrations have decided to impose curfew at night in Rajnandgaon, Surguja, Surajpur, Jashpur and Bastar. Officials said that the Rajnandgaon district administration has said in the order that people should only step out for essential work, roaming outside unnecessarily would be prohibited. The district administration has issued an order to impose a night curfew from 9 o'clock in the morning to six o'clock in the morning.

It has been said in the order that if the shop is found open after 9 pm in the night, legal action will be taken against the shopkeeper. According to the Health Department, a total of 3,41,516 people have been confirmed positive for the virus in Chhattisgarh till Monday, while 3,17,239 patients have become infection-free after treatment. There are 20,181 patients under treatment in the state and 4,096 people infected with the virus have died.
