The High Court had also asked the government to decide on other measures to contain coronavirus in the capital.

"It is now for the Delhi government to take a call on whether night curfew is required to be imposed in Delhi or some parts of Delhi and/or other measures need to be adopted to contain the virus," said the division bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad.

Replying to the court, the AAP government said that it has not taken any decision in regard to imposing night curfew in the city. However, it said that a decision may be taken depending on the rise of COVID-19 cases.

The High Court listed the matter for 3 December and sought a status report by the Delhi government on the said date.

While hearing the case on Thursday, November 26, the Delhi High Court also enquired about the availability of beds in COVID centres and private hospitals. The AAP government was also directed by the court to take concrete steps in managing market places including crowded areas.

The Delhi HC was hearing a petition filed by Rakesh Malhotra seeking large-scale rapid testing for identifying infected people in the city.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases in the country on Friday, November 27 climbed to 93.09 lakh with 43,082 new cases reported in a day. The novel coronavirus virus claimed 492 lives in a span of 24 hours.
