Lawyers will not be hold any post of the Raj Bar Council for more than two years and cannot contest election for any post more than 2 times.

On Tuesday, the Rajasthan High Court issued an important verdict on Bar Association’s welfare schemes and ways to improve the election process. The bench of Justices Govind Mathur and Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur ordered  to incorporate suggestions of committee formed by the High Court while announcing its detailed decision.

Accepting the appeals challenging the BCR Rule 2013, made for the state’s Bar Association election, the rules were declared illegal and void. The High Court has said in its detailed judgment that a committee will be constituted to conduct elections of the Rajasthan Bar Association But its members will not be able to contest elections.

The High Court said that one office-bearer will not be able to contest more than two times consecutively. Five years of experience is necessary for the post of chairman, general secretary and treasurer. Simultaneously, the bar association will issue its own identity cards for voting. A lawyer will have to give an affidavit before the election that he will not vote for any other bar union.
