Moments after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar quit over differences with the RJD a day after the CBI filed a case of corruption against Deputy CM Tejashwi, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav held a news conference at his residence where he dug out a two-decade old murder case against Nitish Kumar, and accused him of colluding with the BJP.

"Corruption is not as big as murder," said Lalu Prasad, as he read out the case details. "The case is registered against Nitish Kumar under sections 147, 149, 302 and 307 of the IPC, the maximum punishment for which is either life imprisonment or the death sentence."

During the conference, the RJD leader ruled out the possibility of his son resigning. "Nitish had never asked for his resignation, why should Tejashwi resign," he asked.

Accusing Nitish for having a "setting" with the BJP, Lalu Prasad said when he was asked if he will join the BJP to form a government, Nitish did not say no.

"Why else will Modi tweet so swiftly after Nitish quit. I asked him not to go, but he folded his hands and said that he can no longer continue," said Lalu Prasad. "I want to warn the people of Bihar: Nitish came to power by being against Modi, and then he voted in favour of the BJP during the Presidential elections. We do not want Bihar to come under the President's rule. He wants either the BJP or the President to rule."

Reiterating that since the RJD had emerged the largest party, it should have the right to decide who the next CM should be.
