Anticipating more trouble in the communally sensitive areas of western Uttar Pradesh, Inspector General of Police (Meerut Zone) Alok Sharma today issued directives to all district police forces to be on high alert till May 30.

According to Intelligence Bureau "inputs that we have received, the anti-social elements in western UP can get active once again", IGP Sharma said here.

All heads of district police forces in western UP have been directed to be on high alert till May 30 and monitor the situation closely, he added.

Meanwhile, Ghaziabad SSP Sachi Ghildiyal confirmed receiving alert directives from the IGP, and said that the city police is prepared to deal with any inadvertent situation.

At least 60 people had died in communal riots in western UP in September last year.
