The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have been fortified with heavy police presence for the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

More than 1000 police personnel from the city including cops from Zone 1 and 4, Detection of Crime Branch and Special Operation Group have been deployed as part of the security arrangement.

Similarly, the traffic police have also taken guard to ensure that the prime minister's caravan has a smooth ride.

The prime minister is likely to land at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 12:30 and will halt at the circuit house annexure in Shahibaug. From there, he will head to ISRO. 

Police sources said there may not be any traffic diversion but commuters should avoid Hansol to circuit house (Shahibaug) road from 11: 30 to 12:30 pm.

Further, the traffic route near IIM-A and ISRO will be under tight security from 3 pm to 5 pm. Nearly 300 traffic cops have been deployed at all the crucial points for the prime minister's visit.

"There will be no major traffic diversion but when the prime minister's convoy comes the traffic will be stopped for a couple of minutes," said a top police official.

Police officials said the prime minister's convoy will have over 40 cars along with his own special protection guards.  Besides, four deputy commissioners of police, over 1000 city police personnel have already taken guard at IIM-A and ISRO.

According to deputy police commissioner, zone-1, Rajivranjan Bhagat, he has deployed 16 police inspectors of his zone along with all the ACPs and over 500 other police officials.

Talking to DNA, joint commissioner of police, Sector 1, Satish Sharma said that police have undertaken a fool proof bandobast for the prime minister's visit.

"Security drill has already been carried out for this," he said.
