Congress workers protest against distribution of gifts in Indore

Congress workers on Sunday staged a demonstration in protest against the distribution of gifts among the voters of constituency number 2 by cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and sitting MLA Ramesh Mendola.

They accused the industry minister and the sitting MLA of influencing voters ahead of state assembly election. Over 1000 people led by local corporator, Chintu Choukse gathered at MR 10 Square to register their protest against the duo for organising different programmes and distributing sarees and household items among the people.

Choukse alleged that both the BJP leaders have been distributing 'gifts' for influencing the people in their bid to garner votes in assembly elections scheduled in November.

He also accused both the MLAs for using government machineries in their programmes.

We would hand over a memorandum to the district election officer to urge him keeping a vigil on both the leaders' 'acts', said Choukse, who is claiming his candidature from Congress party for the city constituency number 2.

While addressing the gathering, MLA, Ashwin Joshi said that most of the youths of this constituency have become habitual to the drugs. Both the BJP MLAs paid no heed for making available jobs, foods and other basic facilities for the residents of their respective constituencies in last four years and now they were influencing the voters by distributing 'gifts' among them.

He also urged the voters to use their conscience and elect the right candidate in upcoming assembly election.

Pandit Kripashankar Shukla, Jitu Patwari, Mohan Sengar, Rajesh Choukse, Chandu Kunjeer and other senior Congress leaders participated in the demonstration.
