The Opposition party has termed the move as cruel. Leader of Opposition in the AMC Surendra Baxi and former mayor Himmatsinh Patel in a statement said that AMC should not make open recreational spaces a means to earn money.

"The civic body's move to come up with more recreational space for citizens is laudable. There is a dearth of public space in the city and so implementing entry fee at such lakes especially in an area inhabited by middle class is not a good idea," said Baxi.
