VIJAYAWADA: Former BJP President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said Congress party is hardly following Mahatma Gandhi's ideology.

Speaking on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the senior BJP leader enlisted several examples to drive home his point.

He said though Gandhiji wanted Congress to be disband after Independence, the party has disregarded his wish and continued to garner votes in his name.

Ram Rajya was the Father of the Nation's dream, but Congress has questioned the very existence of "Ram", the senior BJP leader said.

The apostle of peace was dead against cow slaughter, he said adding, Congress has always opposed such a ban for "political reasons".
