SHILLONG: Former Meghalaya Minister Sengran Sangma was arrested and later released on bail for allegedly assaulting four persons at his residence here, police sources said on Monday.

The Congress MLA was booked under Section 325 and 342 of IPC for causing "injuries and wrongful confinement" to all the four persons, who had been to his residence on May 12 seeking for a recommendation for treatment outside the state.

Police said, the MLA had an argument with the visitors and detained them at his residence the whole night and allegedly assaulted them.
