Congress launches campaign to spread awareness about swine flu

In the wake of rising number of swine flu cases in the national capital, Congress on Wednesday launched a three-day campaign to spread awareness about the viral disease and necessary precautions needed to be taken.Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken, who kick-started the campaign outside Rajiv Chowk metro station, also wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that his party was willing to extend support to the AAP government on social issues for the larger benefit of the people.Congress would play the role of a constructive opposition and would not indulge in any activity that would be against the interest of the people, he said in the letter. Congress workers and leaders, including P C Chacko, Kiran Walia and Sharmistha Mukherjee, distributed 20 lakh pamphlets about swine flu among people as part of the campaign."Due to the persisting cold weather, more cases of swine flu are being reported from different parts of city, and this is the reason that Congress has begun a three-day awareness campaign," Maken said. The number of swine flu cases has gone up considerably, and therefore, it is necessary to make people aware about the disease as a social responsibility of the party, he said. Congress said its campaign would continue till March 13.
