Congress Karnataka MLA calls top neta ‘buffoon’; CM HD Kumaraswamy cancels Delhi visit
Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy cancelled his Delhi visit to meet Election Commission, along with 21 Opposition parties, over EVM issue, and stayed put in the state.
Senior Karnataka Congress leader and MLA, Roshan Baig, Tuesday accused the state party chief of being a “flop show” and scoffed at AICC general secretary KC Venugopal as a “buffoon”, prompting the party to issue him a show cause notice. Baig also dropped hints of quitting Congress, and appealed to Muslims to “compromise with the situation, if NDA returns to power.”
Following this, a rattled Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy cancelled his Delhi visit to meet Election Commission, along with 21 Opposition parties, over EVM issue, and stayed put in the state.
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, meanwhile, welcomed Baig’s outburst, and said it will give a “new direction” to the state politics.
Congress veteran Mallikarjun Kharge, however, rejected speculation of BJP forming a government in Karnataka. He also snubbed claims made by BJP state chief Yeddyurappa, that over 20 MLAs will leave Congress once the Lok Sabha election results are out.
