"The days of sycophancy are over now in Congress. Only competent and deserving leaders will get their due place in the party," Pilot told reporters at Vikasnagar near here on the sidelines of a function of the youth Congress.

The same policy is being adopted in Uttarakhand, the Union minister of state for communications and IT said while responding to a query on factionalism in state Congress.

He appealed to the youths to join Congress and work for the progress of the party. "We need people who really want to toil hard and work in villages. We are doing fine under the able leadership of Sonia Gandhi and directions of Rahul Gandhi," Pilot said.
