"The party has taken stern action against the rebels after they failed to withdraw their nominations and remained in the fray to fight against the official candidates of the party," KPCC Spokesperson Ramachandrappa told PTI.

He said the 15 candidates included four women and two block Congress presidents in the BBMP area.

He said many aspirants could not be given the ticket to contest the elections as the party wanted to provide adequate representation to all sections of society and ensure social justice.

He expressed confidence that Congress would return to power emerging as the largest single party in the polls.
