The Congress was earlier with the 'aam aadmi' (common man), now it is with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said Sunday.

Naidu also told the party's national council here that the Third Front was "a failed idea" in Indian politics.

"The Congress hand was earlier with the 'aam aadmi' (common man). Now it is with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)," Naidu said.

The AAP runs a government in Delhi with Congress backing.

Naidu said some of the parties constituting the Third Front "cannot even go together. How will they form a government?"
