Colleges affiliated to Karnataka's Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to reopen from Dec 1

All paramedical, nursing, pharmacy, Medical, dental and AYUSH colleges affiliated to RGUHS would be reopened from next month. The colleges will follow the SOP issued by the government under lockdown 5.0.

Karnanataka government has made the decision to reopen all medical colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in the state from December 1. 

All paramedical, nursing, pharmacy, Medical, dental and AYUSH colleges affiliated to RGUHS would be reopened from next month. The colleges will follow the SOP issued by the government under lockdown 5.0.

“Karnataka Government has decided to reopen all the medical, dental, AYUSH, paramedical, nursing and pharmacy colleges affiliated to RGUHS from 1st December. I request the administration of colleges & students 2 strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the government,” Dr Sudhakar K, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education said.

Meanwhile, the department of higher education has formulated SOPs (standardized operating procedures) as per the UGC guidelines. SOP's are seperate for students of the final year, and the students of the first and second-year.

Karnataka government has mandated that college students who wish to attend the classes physically must bring in the consent letter duly signed by their parents.

Though Karnataka is reopening colleges from November 17 onwards, the state would continue to have an online mode of teaching and it will be entirely students' choice to opt for physical attendance or online classes, the note from the higher education department stated.

Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwatha Narayana, who is also the minister of higher education informed on Monday that preparation is underway to enable the start of the off-line classes.

Apart from these the SOPs, general guidelines which include cleansing of buildings, entrance, furniture, teaching materials by sanitizers, COVID-19 test of teaching faculty, students, and non-teaching staff, and others.
