CM Yogi Adityanath suspends eight officers for cattle negligence in Uttar Pradesh

Adityanath also issued show-cause notices to the district authorities of many districts

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended eight government officers for negligence in cattle care on Sunday.

In a meeting called over video conferencing, Adityanath had suspended the Block Development Officer, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, Gram Panchayat Officer from the Milkipur district. In addition to this, he also suspended Dr Upendra Kumar and Dr Vijendra Kumar, the officers-in-charge for Ayodhya Nagar Nigam's Kanji House. Adityanath also issued show-cause notices to the district authorities of many districts.

Uttar Pradesh CM directed Dr Ashish Kumar Goel, Commissioner of Prayagraj to set up a committee to investigate the deaths of the cows and accordingly decide the necessary punishment for the accused. Commenting on the decision, Adityanath said, "The officials of Uttar Pradesh Housing Development, Lucknow Development Authority and Lucknow Municipal Corporation should work together to carry the cattle devoid of shelter from various areas of the city to a safe shed through the airport area."

Moreover, the CM also took a decision to suspend chief veterinary officer, Mirzapur, Dr AK Singh, executive officer-in-charge, municipality, Mukesh Kumar and civic city engineer, Ramji Upadhyay. He also issued orders to all the district officials as well as chief veterinary officers to look after the operation, nutrition, feeding, the health of the cattle as well as make adequate shelter homes for them. Warning the officials, he said, "If negligence continues in connection to cattle care, they will be subjected to criminal procedure under Govadh Nivaran Adhiniyam (an act to prevent cow slaughter) and Prevention of Cruelty against Animals Act.
