Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said the state government will meet its target of setting up 1,000 mohalla clinics within three-four months.
Inaugurating two mohalla clinics at night shelters for the homeless on Friday, Kejriwal said: “It is the first time that a government is trying to give a respectful life to the poor. Earlier, the governments thought of poor only when they needed votes.”
The Delhi government has decided to establish four night shelters—Yamuna Pushta, Jama Masjid, Sarai Kale Khan and Shakur Basti. The CM added that the government wanted to complete 1,000 mohalla clinics by the end of the year, but the file has not been cleared by the Lieutenant Governor (LG). “As soon as the file is cleared, we will set up 1,000 mohalla clinics across Delhi in three to four months,” Kejriwal added.
The CM further said the mohalla clinics were a huge hit, and even people from rich families were going there for treatment. A government official said the dedicated mohalla clinics will provide free medicines and medical check-ups in five shelters, with a total capacity of 750 people. “In addition, a 50-bed recovery shelter was also inaugurated,” he added.
