Annoyed by the boy for creating a ruckus in the classroom, the teacher allegedly flung a stick at him which hit his left eye
A student of class VII in Karnataka's Chamrajnagar district lost his eye after allegedly being hit by a teacher with a stick.
According to a Bangalore Mirror report, annoyed by the boy for creating a ruckus in the classroom, the teacher allegedly flung a stick at him which hit his left eye. Doctors later told him that he had lost his vision.
The incident took place recently at CRBP HPS Ramasamudra school in the district, the report said. The student has been identified as Giri Mallesh.
A classmate of the victim said that Mallesh seemed to have created a disturbance in the class and was warned by the teacher, identified as Joseph, several times. The annoyed teacher then threw a stick at Mallesh which hit his left eye. When he started screaming with pain, the teacher took him to the staffroom for first-aid and asked him not to inform anybody about the incident.
Another student said that the teacher had told Mallesh to tell parents that he hurt his eye while playing in the ground. The student, however, told his parents about the incident when he reached home from the school. He was taken to the district hospital and was referred him to KR Hospital in Mysuru.
The doctors at KR Hospital said he may have lost his vision and referred him to St John’s Hospital in Bengaluru for an eye surgery. Doctors in Bengaluru confirmed last week that Mallesh has lost his left eye, a relative said.
Expressing displeasure against the school management for not taking any action against the teacher, his parents have filed a complaint against Joseph at Chamarajanagar police station.
