Harry Potter author surprised 12-year old Kulsum Bano last week when she sent a pack of gifts with a personal note of appreciation for the young student of Haji Public School in Doda.

Rowling had tweeted for Kulsum in April when she wrote a small essay expressing her desire to meet the author. The note was posted on the twitter by a teacher of the school, situated at the altitude of 8000 feet. Saba Haji, director of  Haji Public School, also tweeted to Rowling about Kulsum’s wish to meet the author.

“Dear @jk_rowling. Kulsum, 12, a first generation English learner from the Himalayas would like to meet you someday. So come visit us at Haji Public School”, tweeted Saba.

Rowling was quick to reply and asked for the address of the school so she could send a gift for Kulsum.

“Please can you send me Kulsum's full name by DM? I'd love to send her something”, Rowling responded.

Two months later, Kulsum was pleasantly surprised to receive a pack of gifts from Rowling along with a note. “I hope you like them. I was so impressed by your English. It will be honour to meet one day. With Love”, wrote Rowling.

The gifts included books, cards and other gift items for Kulsum and her classmates.

"HELLO, WORLD. SO @jk_rowling SENT A HUGE GIFT BOX FOR KULSUM AND FRIENDS. HANDWRITTEN NOTE, INSCRIBED BOOK, AND THIS IS ALMOST TOO MUCH TO HANDLE. We are so thrilled and squeaky, I cannot even. Thank you so much, Ms Rowling," tweeted Saba.

"I’m so happy it got there! I was getting worried! Xxx," the British author said.
