Shopian district was the worst hit with youth trying to march towards the encounter sites to help terrorists flee
Three civilians were killed and over a hundred injured in Kashmir as stone-pelting mobs clashes with security forces that fired pellets and firearms.
Tension has gripped the Valley, prompting authorities to suspend high-speed mobile Internet in five districts. Separatists have called for two days of shutdown, while the government announced closure of all schools and colleges on Monday.
Shopian district was the worst hit with youth trying to march towards the encounter sites to help terrorists flee.
Clashes erupted in Shopian's Kachidoora village when people tried to march towards an encounter. Scores of people were injured in the incident. Stone pelting, protests and clashes were also reported from parts of Srinagar, Kulgam and other areas.
"There are injuries to police, CRPF and Army men. Unfortunately there were losses on the civilian side. There are 25 injuries due to pellets. They are all stable and they would be discharged after a few hours. Some six civilians have received bullet injuries. I hope they all survive,"said J&K DGP SP Vaid.
