CID to quiz Sylvester in Prajapati case

Three-and-a-half year after the death of gangster Tulsiram Prajapati, the CID crime on Friday sought permission to interrogate Sylvester Daniel who was a close associate of Prajapati and Sohrabuddin Sheikh.

It should be noted that the CID has already filed a chargesheet on July 30 against nine police officials in the fake encounter of Prajapati.

RK Patel, Deputy Superintendent of Police CID (crime) on Friday approached the sessions judge IB Vaghela for permission to record the statement of Sylvester.

The application states that as Sylvester was a close associate of Prajapati he is likely to know a lot about Prajapati's encounter. Hence they need to question him and record his statement.

Sylvester is currently lodged in Vadodra jail under the custody of sessions judge IB Vaghela in connection with the Popular Builder firing case.

The court after hearing the argument granted CID crime the permission to interrogate Sylvester in Baroda jail.

The officials, according to sources, will interrogate him on Saturday.

According to Ahmedabad police records, Sheikh, Prajapati and Sylvester had together executed several crimes and had been allegedly running an extortion racket.

Incidentally, Sheikh and Prajapati both were killed in a fake encounter by the Gujarat police.
