The United States on Wednesday said that Washington was closely monitoring the India-China military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The statement came from the White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany during a press briefing.

"With regard to India and China, we are closely monitoring the situation. Both India and China have expressed a desire to de-escalate. We support a peaceful resolution of current situation," McEnany said.

She further stated during the press briefing that both India and China want to de-escalate and reduce border tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

However, McEnany stated that the US President believes that the "aggressive stand adopted by China along the LAC fits with a larger pattern of Chinese aggression in other parts of the world."

"Donald Trump has said that China's aggressive stance along the India-China border fits with a larger pattern of Chinese aggression in other parts of the world. These actions only confirm the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party," the White House press secretary said.

Meanwhile, the United States on Wednesday welcomed the Indian government's decision to ban 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok and WeChat, saying that the move will boost the country's sovereignty and national security.

Addressing the State Department press conference, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, "We welcome India's ban on certain mobile apps. India's clean app approach will boost India's sovereignty and boost integrity and national security."

India on Monday banned 59 Chinese mobile apps including popular short video making platform TikTok. The ban came two weeks after 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash at Galwan Valley in Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) escalated after 20 Indian jawans were killed in clashes with the Chinese troops in Galwan valley.
