Rajasthan is shivering in the mornings and evenings, and as per the local MeT office report, cold wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in the state during last 24 hours. The mercury plunged to minus 1.2 degrees Celsius at Fatehpur Shekhawati in Sikar on Monday night, making it the coldest place in the state.

Jaipur too witnessed chilly mornings and nights. After witnessing one of the coldest days of the season, followed by showers, both maximum and minimum temperatures in Jaipur dropped further and settled 2 degrees below normal. As per MeT, during the last 24 hours, the maximum and minimum temperature in Jaipur was 23.4 and 7.3 degrees respectively. Weathermen expect it to decrease further, to touch 6 degrees Celsius during the next 24 hours.

The combined effect of a current weather system over north India resulted in dropping night temperatures. Due to northerly and northwesterly winds, the chill could be felt in parts of the state. Though day temperature recorded a marginal increase and reached above 24 degrees Celsius at most places, most towns in the state are seeing minimums in single digits.

In the plains, Churu recorded a minimum temperature of 0.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhilwara at 1 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature at Sikar, Pilani, Chittorgarh, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar were 2.0, 2.5, 4.2, 4.5 and 4.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to Skymet Weather, the conditions will remain the same, and weather will continue to be chilly.
