Prominent real estate developer DS Kulkarni who was arrested by the Economic Offense Wing of Pune police in the alleged cheating case on Saturday was shifted to Sassoon General Hospital.

According to police, Kulkarni lost his balance when he was in the lock-up after which he was rushed to the hospital where he is now under observation.

On Saturday, after the arrest of Kulkarni and his wife Hemanti, the couple was remanded in police custody by the special judge JT Utpat, after which they both were taken to police lock up. According to police, at around 12.30 am, Kulkarni started complaining about uneasiness and had to be taken to a hospital.

Assistant commissioner of police Nilesh More of Economic Offense Wing who is the investigating officer in the case told DNA, "At around 12.30 he complained of uneasiness. When one of the police officers was speaking to him, Kulkarni lost his balance and he was about to fall but our officer held him. He was then admitted to Sassoon general hospital."

Kulkarni is currently under observation. "Blood supply to his brain was affected but currently he is stable. We have carried out all the necessary test and he is now under observation," medical officer of Sassoon Hospital said.

Earlier, when Kulkarni was taken to the court and special public prosecutor Pravin Chavan had requested the court to remanded his police custody for ten days, Kulkarni's lawyer Shrikant Shivade had requested the court to reduce the police custody to seven days citing health issues as the reason. "Kulkarni is suffering from high blood pressure and after a serious road accident, some of his bones are still in the healing process," Shivade had told the court on Saturday.
