The Chattisgarh government is planning to increase the monthly income of tribals in the Naxal-hit region of Bastar upto Rs5,000, official sources said today.Administrative work has begun to provide Rs5,000 as monthly income to the 50,000 tribal families coming under the Below Poverty Line (BPL), they said adding these families will be included under various employment schemes.Clusters and families have been selected who would be getting the benefit of these schemes, they said.For the purpose, the government was initially planning to give Rs5,000 to 12,744 families but considering special cirumstances, it was further extended to 50,000.There are around 2,94,000 families belonging to the BPL out of which 50,000 will be given Rs5,000 as monthly income.The tribal families will also be included under the 'Rashtriya Gramin Jeevikoparjan Mission' scheme, they said.For irrigation development, the government is planning to introduce stopdam, checkdam and small ponds including 800 water structures.
