Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said his party will play a crucial role post-2014 general elections.

Hinting that his party may not be averse to joining hands with any political combination, including the BJP-led NDA, he said that TDP has always played positive rule whenever non-Congress government has been formed at the Centre.

“Three out of four non-Congress governments were formed in New Delhi with direct or indirect support of TDP. Now, we will once again play a constructive role in the formation of next government at the Centre,” Naidu said. He was referring to National Front government in 1989, United Front government in 1996 and NDA government in 1998.

However, on the division of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu is still a fence sitter.  Without supporting or opposing the creation of Telangana, Naidu met president Pranab Mukherjee and heads of several political parties to solve the current crisis in his state.

A delegation of TDP leaders representing both Rayalaseema and Telangana met the president on Saturday and demand to direct the Centre to hold talks with Joint Action Committees civil society organisations and other stakeholder to find out amicable solution to current crisis in state.
