PATIALA: A court here on Monday remanded B I S Chahal, media advisor to former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, in judicial custody till July 30 in a disproportionate assets case registered.

Chahal was sent to judicial custody by the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate K K Karir before whom he was produced after the expiry of this three-day police remand.

The court rejected the plea of the Vigilance Bureau for extending the police remand on the ground that some documents had to be recovered from Chahal's flat in New Delhi.

Chahal's counsel also informed the court that Vigilance sleuths recovered nine jewellery sets after they opened his locker in a local bank today.

The state Vigilance Bureau had registered the caseagainst Chahal for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income after he failed to get relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which rejected his application for giving him seven days notice before arrest in any case.
