CHENNAI: A shocked Rajiv Rajan, the cerebral palsy victim who was denied permission to board an Air Sahara flight on Monday on account of his physical condition, has planned to move the consumer court against the airline.

"It was an atrocious act on their part. I am planning to file a case before the Consumer court as I want to teach a lesson to all airlines which mete out shabby treatment to disabled people," the 34-year-old NGO activist said.

The wheel-chair borne Rajan was booked to fly on the Air Sahara flight to New Delhi to attend a meeting of the National Trust for Welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. But the airline staff refused to take him on board without an escort.

"Despite my plea that I am a frequent flier and I am   fit to travel alone, they pushed me out of the office and even called in the police to show me my way out," he said.

However, this was not the first time that Rajan has encountered problems with the airlines.

"I have suffered humiliation inside the flight on many occasions. But this is the first time that I have been denied entry into the flight and I want to take a strong action this time," he said.

Rajan is also fighting a legal battle against Jet Airways in the Madras High Court after he was subjected to a medical check up on a Mumbai-Chennai flight without his consent a few years ago.
