DRI sources say they seized a consignment which was declared as inkjet printer. But during checking it was found that the consignment was carrying a ceramic printing machine which was costlier than the inkjet printer. The DRI officials seized the consignment for further investigation.

Sources said that the company has imported several similar consignments in recent times but got away from the customs officials. DRI officials said that it is suspected that the company has evaded huge amount of customs duty using similar modus operandi.

"In this case the evasion amount to only 10% of the cost of the printer that is Rs2 crore. However, we have information that the company has imported several similar consignments in last couple of years and it seems they have evaded huge amount of duty," sources said.
