Centre is paralysed: BJP leader Arun Jaitley

Arun Jaitley, senior BJP leader and the leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha said that the leaders who were present at the Gujarat University convention centre were representing states which have shown tremendous economic progress.

"Businessmen and industrialists who have worked with Gujarat have been known to say that the process of setting up industry or business in Gujarat is simple and transparent."

Commenting on the confusing stance of the Centre, he said that while they say that they want development for all, the UPA government's actions have only made things tougher for the poor of the country. He made strong statements about the corrupt environment in the captial. "The scam figures run into numbers that we cant even imagine," he said.

"Last week at the Nation Integration Council meet, every chief minister said that the Centre  was weakening every state," said the senior leader.

"There have been seven terror attacks and the government has failed to find answers, nail the culprits," he further said.

"In such an environment, I hail the Sadbhavana Mission and I hail Narendra bhai for his decision to start a goodwill movement. This is historic," he said.

"Gujarat has seen an earthquake, a cyclone and a communal unrest. While the world was criticising Gujarat, Narendra Modi maintained strong leadership and took key decisions to develop the state," said Jaitley.

"The Centre has been paralysed. However, between 2002-2011 Gujarat has attracted landmark investments, developed strong public welfare schemes to ensure that the weak in the society receive education and social benefits. This is very important if we desire economic development," said Jaitley.
