Holding placards and shouting slogans, hundreds of angry students, along with their parents, protested at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Thursday, a day after CBSE decided to re-conduct the Class X maths and Class XII economics papers following reports of paper leaks.

They shouted for justice and said it's not the students but the system that needs a retest. "We are shocked. Why should all students suffer?" asked Akshay Singh, a Class X student at St Thomas School.

Shreya Sharma, a Class X student from Ahlcon Public School, said CBSE could have cancelled the papers much earlier if it was aware of leaks.

Students and parents also claimed to have received calls that offered papers for Rs 10,000 to 15,000. "My son had received a call from his classmate offering copies of the maths paper for Rs 15,000 on Tuesday, a day before the exam," said Barira Qazi, mother of a Class X student at DPS, Mathura Road.

Class XII students, who will have to take the economics test again, termed CBSE's move an additional burden. "We have to take several entrance tests in the coming week. How will we manage both?" asked Mansi Sharma, a Class XII student at Ryan International School, Noida. Some teachers were also spotted extending solidarity with students and parents.

Meanwhile, members of the Delhi unit of All India Democratic Students' Organisation demanded a high-level probe into the CBSE question paper leak case and held a protest at Parliament street on Thursday.
