A 10-member CBI team from Jodhpur conducted a search at the ancestral home of Mumbai I-T Deputy Commissioner Jaipal Swami at Buchawas village of Taranagar in Churu.

Swami was arrested on Friday by the CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 crore.

The team sealed off the house and no one was permitted to enter or leave the premises. During the raid, which lasted 15 hours, Swami’s family members including his father and brother were questioned by the CBI team.

The team searched the entire house and even searched the mobile phones of the family members. As per informed sources they have prepared a 24-page report. 

Swami, who was posted in the Churchgate head office of the Income Tax department, began his career as a teacher. He later cleared the RPSC exam and joined the state services as a DSP in Rajasthan police.

He cleared the Civil services examination (2009) and joined the I-T department in 2010.
