NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday took over the probe into the killing of top Delhi cop Rajbir Singh, who was allegedly gunned down by a realtor in the suburban town of Gurgaon in March.

The central government has handed over the probe to the CBI on the recommendation of the Haryana government.

"Immediately after taking over the case, a team of forensic experts visited the scene of crime," a CBI official said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajbir Singh was shot dead on March 24.
