CBI should be under Lokpal: BJP leader K Lakshman

BJP wanted the CBI to be under the Lokpal bill so that the agency could function independent of the government, party national secretary K Lakshman said on Thursday.

"The CBI should be brought under the Lokpal bill. The Director of CBI should also be decided by the Lokpal board," he told reporters in Chennai.

Denying that his party was playing an "opportunistic role" in Lokpal bill, he said it was the Congress that was being 'opportunistic'.

"Congress had brought in the Food bill, which has "nothing concrete, only eyeing Uttar Pradesh polls," he said.

He claimed Congress had been 'relegated to the third place' in some states.
