The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted searches at the Worli residence of former media baron Peter Mukerjea as part of its investigations into a case linked to P Chidambaram and his son Karti over alleged favours granted in foreign investment clearance to a firm, INX Media, in 2007. The CBI also raided the company’s Powai-based office.

The agency, it is learnt, has seized a few hard disks and documents related to the case from the house and would be questioning Peter Mukerjea. Around 7 am, a five-member team of CBI Delhi had reached Mukerjea’s apartment in Marlow Society. According to the security guards there, the Mukerjea owns flat no 18 at the fourth floor of the society and on Tuesday the society manager had informed them to open the gates for a few people from Delhi and not to allow anyone else enter the society apart from the residents. Peter’s brother Gautam Mukerjea also stays in the same building along with his wife, who was questioned earlier by the police. The search operation ended by 4:30 pm.

“We would also be scrutinising the emails of the persons involved to get more leads in the case,” said a CBI officer.
