Cases have been registered against 11 riot-hit people for allegedly encroaching upon a forest land at Roten village in Shamli district, police said today.

Forest Inspector Gulab Singh yesterday lodged an FIR against 11 people who allegedly constructed on the forest land. The accused were camping in the area after their villages were struck by riots, they said.

Meanwhile, a housing colony, developed to rehabilitate the riot-hit victims at Panjith village in Shamli district was yesterday inaugurated by Jamiat Ulama Hind President Maulana Usman, who also handed over keys of 55 houses to the victims.
