With original case studies being the central theme of the International Case Masters Competition (ICM) conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), faculty members and experts attending the meet discussed and debated some successful Indian cases at the prize distribution ceremony on Sunday.

The ICM was organized as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the IIMA. The objective of the competition, which attracted around 100 entries from leading B-schools, was to promote study of changing global management practices.

The themes were emerging economies and new growth opportunities, evolving financial landscape, new ventures and open track. Professor Bala Chakravarthy, who was the judge of the new ventures category, observed in his presentation that in the years to come, India will need able leaders. "India is an innovation laboratory and will need able managers to continue the progress," he said. He said new ventures are important for any organization.

IIMA professor Atanu Ghosh, one of the judges, said ICM was an idea of the students and the faculty members were keen to support the initiative. A team from IIMA, comprising Deepanakar Garg, Kumar Sangeetesh, Abhimanyu Talwar, Aditya Garg and Abhishek Halder were declared overall winners of the competition.
