Carvan-e-Aman buses damaged, curfew on in Valley
Protestors refuse to calm down as eight-year-old succumbs to injuries, 13 more injured.
An eight-year old boy was the latest victim of the unending violence in Kashmir valley. Milad Ahmad Dar battled for life for five days before succumbing to his wounds on Thursday in Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.
Dar had gone to his relatives in Harnag of Anantnag district on August 14. A stray bullet fired by security forces to quell protestors hit him. With his death, the toll in the current agitation has reached 60. The news of his death spread like wildfire triggering a fresh wave of tension, and curfew had to be clamped again to avoid clashes.
On Thursday, eight people were injured when security forces used force to disperse protestors in Jenab Sahib Soura. Three of them, including two women, suffered bullet injuries when security forces opened fire on the protestors. One of the two women, 17-year-old Sumaira, is critical.
Five more persons were injured when security forces fired rubber bullets to quell a stone pelting mob at Seelo in Sopore. Police said miscreants also pelted stones on two Carvan-e -Aman buses on their way to Srinagar from Uri. Both buses suffered damaged.
Protestors clashed with security forces at Rainawari allegedly smashing the window panes of houses in the area. Curfew and restrictions remained in force in different parts of the valley to prevent separatists’ marches and processions.
