Congress today said that it could not trust the BJP, RSS and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on the Ayodhya issue saying, "they could do anything" .
"Ï cannot trust BJP, RSS, VHP. In 1992, we made a mistake when we accepted their affidavit....I have come to know that they are making preparations and they could do anything", AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters.
Singh, who is in charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, said that the Congress has asked its MPs and MLAs to remain in the constituency and work for communal harmony.
When told that the BJP as well as the RSS were quiet ahead of the verdict and were talking of taking the legal route, he said that a glimpse of their strategy would be visible during LK Advani's visit to Somnath later this week.
Replying to a question whether Ayodhya would again become a political issue, he suggested that the saffron forces were able to play a fraud on the people once and it would not be possible again.
He alleged that Hindu fundamentalist organisations in Bhopal and Indore have put up boards for recruitment in their ranks.
Singh, a former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, advised incumbent Shivraj Singh Chauhan of the BJP that he should control "overzealous" workers in the current scenario. Singh said this to Chauhan when the latter had a telephonic conversation with him.
