The VC, who had gone to the college for some official work, was caught unawares when the students were demonstrating before the principal's office demanding that 95 students who had failed in an earlier examination be allowed to appear in the final examination. The students could not identify him until he introduced himself and assured them to look into their demands.

"I am the VC.....I shall look into your demands," he told the students. The agitating students were also protesting against keeping the main gate of the premises closed during the agitation. The college principal said the gate was closed to prevent outsiders from entering. "There was no other reason," she said.

The agitating students also alleged some of them were beaten up during the demonstration. This was ruled out by the principal. "If any student is beaten up, she can go to the police station," she said.
