Months after she had first thought of becoming an officer in Indian Administrative Services, the 14-year-old Ghaziabad girl, was pulled out from a vehicle on the Delhi-Kanpur National Highway 9, and allegedly gang raped, last week. Her mother, who also was allegedly raped became the second victim of the culprits, while the rest of her family, including the male members, were roughed up, beaten, tied and held hostage as the brutality continued for the next three hours.

The memories of the night will continue to haunt the entire family to a point where they have come out and said that they would commit suicide if the culprits are not punished.

In an interview to dna, the uncle of the victim, who was present at the scene of crime and witnessed the horror himself, spoke about the trauma faced by the family, their broken dreams, the aftermath of the horrific night and a future which looks bleak.

"My own son is studying to be an IAS officer. Couple of months ago, my niece came up to him and said she wanted to be an IAS officer as well. She told my son that once he becomes an officer he had to tuition her and help her in every way so that she can make her family proud," the uncle told dna on Tuesday.

The uncle was accompanying the girl's family, which included her 35-year-old mother and were travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh on intervening nights of July 30 and July 31.

The family was driving to a funeral in Bulandshahr when they were dragged out of a car and allegedly raped by a group of seven-eight men of which only three have been arrested till now.

The male members, that included her father, a 39-year-old cab driver, and her uncle who is a security guard in a private firm in Noida, were tied with ropes while the accused carried out the gruesome act.

"I shudder when I think of the night. They (accused) have not only brutalised my sister-in-law and niece but also my entire family. Can we live a normal life after this. In our home no one talks to each other. We can't face each other because we our reminded of the brutality that the family witnessed," the uncle said.

On Friday night, their car was waylaid by a gang of robbers around 1.30 am. The family stopped when their car was hit by an iron rod and moments later the gang emerged from darkness, took over the car at gunpoint and drove it to a field.

They robbed the family, beat up the three men in the car and took them to the fields, leaving the women in the car. "There were seven-eight men. They tied our hands and feet and kept beating us. When we begged for water they would hit us harder," said the uncle adding, "Then I thought they had come to rob us and would let us go. But not even in my nightmare did I imagine this to happen". He saw the attackers drag his niece and sister-in-law to another part of the field.

He added that since the incident took place, the mother-daughter have barely spoken a word. "The mother at least asks for water when she is thirsty but the child refuses to speak at all. The only thing she had said after that night were that she can't stop visualising the faces of people who did this to her," he said. "We are broken and all we want is justice. Arresting those animals will hardly bring any respite to my family but letting them off will kill us," he added.

'We will commit suicide'

The three men arrested in the Bulandshahr gangrape case were identified by the victims, police said on Tuesday even as opposition parties accused ruling SP of "protecting" criminals ahead of assembly polls and a senior minister suggesting that it could be an outcome of a political conspiracy against the UP government. Police had arrested -- Naresh (25), Bablu (22) and Rais (28) -- and detained a dozen others after launching a massive hunt for the dacoits suspected to be behind the crime.

The DGP, who had visited the spot of crime, said the Special Task Force of UP Police was on the job.

Meanwhile, the family of the 14-year-old girl and her mother, who were gangraped at gunpoint, has threatened to commit suicide if the accused were not punished within three months.
